Reliever Brian Shouse and the Milwaukee Brewers avoided salary arbitration when they agreed Tuesday to a one-year contract that guarantees the left-hander $975,000. Shouse went 1-3 with a 3.97 ERA and two saves in 59 relief appearances for the Brewers this year. He was acquired from the Texas Rangers on May 13 for infielder Enrique Cruz and cash.
